Stacey & Derrick’s Wedding | M. Clay Photography

01-25-10

A couple of weekends ago, I had the opportunity to document Stacey & Derrick’s wedding at the Sand Dunes Club in Sullivan’s Island, SC.  They are a gorgeous couple, the weather was great, and it was an absolutely beautiful ceremony.  This was also my first wedding of 2010 !!!  I was so glad we got to run down to the beach for a few quick shots before the sun completely went down.  The I can’t thank them enough for allowing me to be part of their special day.  Here are some images from their wedding:

M. Clay Photography | Random Photo of the Week

01-24-10

Was organizing some folders and while digging through my archives, came across these two pics I’d like to share.

These really caught my eye.  I love how they dressed up this grungy, construction dump site with these “art” towers.  It just goes to show…art can be anywhere.  I’m sure some fellow Charlotteans will recognize where these are.
When I visited New York last year to attend a Yankees game in their final season at historic Yankee Stadium, I was shooting all over the place.  I snapped this shot of a typical Manhattan intersection.  I love the chaos and colors of this pic.

Serwa & Travis Engagement | M. Clay Photography

01-23-10

I did Serwa & Travis’s engagement shoot early last month, but just now blogging it because they made me wait until they had their wedding website complete. I’m always excited and anxious to post engagement pics (especially of such a great looking couple), but it was definitely worth the wait….they have a beautiful wedding website and of course I’m so honored to have my engagement pics displayed there 🙂  We had so much fun and they toughed out some very cold weather that evening.  They are my next wedding this year…in Amelia Island, FL and I can’t wait.  Here’s some pics from their session:

M. Clay Photography | Just some simple headshots

01-23-10

Recently, a friend of mine, who is a senior at UNCC needed some headshots to start interviewing for jobs in her field….entering the “real world”.  Man, I remember those days.

I enjoy the the simplicity of basic headshots….no fancy lighting and not a lot of creativity…just capturing the expression of your subject and letting their eyes tell the story of their character.  Here’s a few shots from that session:

M. Clay Photography | Random Photo of the Week

01-08-10

So I will confess one New Year’s resolution which was to shoot more stuff for me this year.  As much as I enjoy photography and working with clients, I did not make much time to shoot for personal enjoyment last year.  That is something I committed to changing this year so expect many more posts like this.  I may shoot anything that looks interesting, something fun, something with my iPhone, something completely random, etc.  And I may post once, 3, or maybe even 5 times a week.  I think it will be something neat to mix in with the weddings and portraits…just to keep the blog interesting.  Here’s the first of many “Random Photo’s of the Week”.

Baron just happened to be laying right in some beautiful sun rays coming through the blinds which made some interesting light patterns across his head. It also captures the simple peacefulness of a sleeping dog.
